Vampires of the underworld are often not recognized for their levity and practical jokes. But actor Ian Somerhalder, who plays brooding bad-boy vampire Damon around the CW’s Vampire Journals, attempted to lighten the atmosphere on set by playing a nude practical joke on costar (and real-existence primary squeeze) Nina Dobrev while filming the growing season 3 premiere (which broadcast Thursday evening).

As Somerhalder informs Entertainment Weekly, the Vampire Journals scene involved a naked soaped-up Damon surprising Nina. “Well, you realize, you open the coverage page of season 3, episode 1, and it is, like, the very first half a webpage, Damon’s already naked,” the 32-year-old actor states, setting the scene. “So I’d spent almost 2 days on set completely naked, that is kinda awesome, because when basically wasn’t close enough to the crew people, Personally i think really close next.Inch

An environment of mischief won and Somerhalder states that at some point a plot started to percolate how they might shock Dobrev, 22, if this was her use film using the nude Damon. “So our first AD Rudy, at like 8 o’clock each morning, emerged in my experience and states, ‘Hey listen, I know.A When Rudy comes with an idea, it’s often very good,Inch states Somerhalder.
